The following is a letter I sent to the National Town Watch Association. I would love some comments from your group in Oxford as to HOW you got it started. Thank you _Amy Hi, I went to your website to find out how to start a Town watch in our town of West Grove, PA. We are experiencing more and more crime in our little one square mile town. Everything from drug dealing, graffiti, car theft, muggings, gang activity and other various forms of illegal activity. Our police force is tiny and cannot keep up with the crime. Our police are not ticketing people anymore, and many of us feel we are now a safe haven for illegals from the local mushroom industry. Our State Police Barracks are located in Avondale, PA, a few miles away. When our local police are not on call, we must call 911 and it can be a long time until someone can respond. Some of our towns' people are thinking of starting a Town Watch in our town, but are told by our Borough Council that we cannot do this. They say that the Borough would be open to lawsuits if a Town watch was started in West Grove. They refuse to say why. Is there any way of getting someone to come to speak on this subject at a borough meeting in our little town? We have a borough meeting on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:30.
